LOST - Wild Struggle

Further evidence that L.O.S.T. has fully spread into the animal populace of the world.  A spotted hyena had approached a carcass being finished off by a group of five African wild dogs, hoping to snatch some of fresh kill.  The dogs weren't too fond of their hard earned meal being shared with the hyena, and positioned themselves around the intruder.  The hyena stood its ground - it was determined to get something.  One of the dogs closed in towards the hyena, snapping at it once, before lunging towards it and grabbing on to the hyena's nose in its mouth.  The hyena was in trouble.  It struggled to get free of the lock, while the other African Wild Dogs circled around it.  But then they started to whimper, and back way...

The mouth of the African wild dog that grabbed the hyena's nose was losing definition, blending into its foe's nose, which melded into the mouth, until both animals were fused by their muzzles.  Fear welled up in their eyes as their minds tried to comprehend what was happening.  No sooner than this happened did their faces begin to pull towards one another even more, fearful eyes coming closer, and closer, and closer, and then...gone.  Their front legs dug into the ground in an attempt to pull away from one another, but it was to no avail, as their legs were sucked into their bodies as their entire front portions were fully absorbed into one another.  And then at long last, it stopped.

Where an African wild dog and spotted hyena once was, now stood a freakish mishap of nature, the rear portions of the two animals fused together at their mid-sections,  nothing else remaining.  But their minds seemed somehow intact, as the bodies continued to struggle against one another, thinking somehow they were merely "stuck" and could get out of this.  But the rest of the dog pack knew otherwise, and had abandoned this member to the hyena it was stuck with.  They knew that something evil had happened...

I don't draw normal animals that often, not to mention working with intricate patterns like this.  So this was a good bit of practice in that regard, and to get me to try something different! 

Ah "reverse queen conjoinments."  Such delicious good fun, even with animals~

And interestingly, I have the "catdog" tag due to it being a reversal of the concept the show worked with, but as animals, it actually works too!  The African wild dog is a member of the Suborder Caniformia (Dog-like), while the spotted hyena is a member of the Suborder Feliformia (Cat-like).  Woo, biology!
